Port Houston is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all employees, the community and visitors alike.

Our small business department collaborated with OSHA and organized a Construction Safety Workshop for local small businesses and contractors. Content included what OSHA looks for at the construction site, identifying hazards, safety studies and other resources available for contractors.

Port Houston’s safety department facilitated 848 safety audits and observations in 2018 and has continued to lower its lost time incident frequency rate in recent years. Port Houston also offers a weekly safety class to truckers and conducted more than 2,000 hours of training.

“Here at the port, we have a number of contractors and users working at our terminals outside of our employees,” said Matt Chapman, terminal safety manager for Port Houston.  “It is important for us all to do our best at maintaining and keep a strong, safe workplace.”
