Port Houston welcomed seven teachers from Houston Independent School District’s Career Readiness Department as part of their Teacher Externship Week June 26-29.

Port Houston hosted Chinese officials from four ministries June 2 at the Bayport Container Terminal.

Port Houston’s FTZ and Economic Development department hosted 35 local economic development professionals for a workshop June 14. The workshop included a roundtable discussion, briefing and tour of the Bayport Container Terminal.

Port Houston staff and Port Commissioners Stephen DonCarlos and Roy Mease recently hosted mayors, council members and administration from 29 cities in the Greater Houston area for an educational tour along the Houston Ship Channel.

At its May 24 public meeting, the Port Commission approved the purchase of nine new rubber-tired gantry container yard cranes at the Bayport Container Terminal.

Port Houston’s Marketing and External Communications team won two American Marketing Association Crystal Awards at the association’s 31^st Annual Crystal Awards Gala May 11.

Port Houston hosted Lt. General Todd Semonite for a briefing and tour May 17. Semonite serves as the commanding general and chief of engineers for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  The Corps is a critical partner to the port because of its mission to maintain the Houston Ship Channel.

Port Houston hosted the first American Institute of International Steel “SteelCON” Supply Chain Conference at the Houstonian Hotel May 19. The event provided steel expert analysis in key areas such as shipping, logistics, customs and international trade.
