Theldon R. Branch III was reappointed to the Port Commission of the Port of Houston Authority by the Houston City Council Feb. 7.
Port Commissioner Stephen H. DonCarlos was recently appointed for another two-year term by the Harris County Mayors and Councils Association. The organization represents around 16 cities in Harris County.

Port Houston was the first U.S. port of call during the inaugural voyage of the MSC Vittoria, a new larger vessel on the TA6 MedGulf service rotation at the Bayport Container Terminal Jan. 26.

Nearly 280 beneficial cargo owners, shippers, ocean carriers, and logistics providers attended Port Houston’s third annual Synthetic Resin Symposium Conference Jan 23. Resins are a solid plastic substance used to make many of our daily consumer products such as bags, cups, car parts and toys.

The Houston International Seafarers Center’s new in-house restaurant, Seafarers Landing, opened Jan. 8. Located in their newly renovated building within the Port of Houston, the restaurant will serve breakfast and lunch with a variety of options from burgers, sandwiches, salads and more.

Did you know that St. Nicholas is the patron saint of seafarers, as well as of children? Port Houston is proud to continue a wonderful tradition of spreading holiday cheer by providing small gifts to visiting seafarers through the “Shoeboxes for Seafarers” program. The program, which has been running for more than 40 years, is organized by the Houston International Seafarers’ Center.
