The Port of Houston Authority was honored with the Galveston Bay Foundation’s Guardian of the Bay Award at their annual luncheon September 27. Accepting the award on behalf of the port was Commissioner Stephen Don Carlos, Port Authority Environmental Affairs Director Leah Oberlin and Channel Development Project Manager David Casebeer.

Port Hosts AAPA Port Property and Terminal Lease Workshop
The Port of Houston Authority hosted a full house during the AAPA Port Property and Terminal Lease Workshop at the Executive Office Building September 21. The event was developed to provide a platform for port, terminal and industry representatives to discuss some of the complex processes of real estate planning, leasing and development. Port Commission Approves Agreement with LBC Houston
The Port Commission of the Port of Houston Authority at its September meeting voted to enter into a long-term lease agreement with LBC Houston, L.P.
LBC Houston, one the largest global operators of bulk liquid storage facilities for chemical and oil products, has been an active private facility on the Houston Ship Channel, growing and expanding during the past several years.

Port Authority Participates in Adopt-A-Beach Program
The Port of Houston Authority was proud to partner with the Galveston Bay Foundation and the Texas General Land Office for this year’s state-wide Adopt-A-Beach clean-up event. Port employees spent the day volunteering at Morgan’s Point beaches, along with 60+ other community members from local businesses and surrounding communities.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Visits Port
The Port of Houston Authority welcomed the head of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Commissioner Gil Kerlikowske, on September 30. The Commissioner was in Houston to visit with port officials regarding the agency’s operations at the Port Authority’s container terminals as well as hear from private industry about investments they are making in the region that will increase cargo.
