Port Houston’s Small Business and Education Outreach Department hosted more than 70 attendees at the 2017 Capital Improvement Projects and Subcontracting Opportunities Workshop Feb. 16 in the port’s Executive Building.

Port Houston’s Project Management team provided an overview of anticipated capital projects and discussed how to do business with the port as a contractor, professional service provider such as  an engineer or architect or a legal service. The infrastructure division is responsible for supporting the operational efforts at the port to maintain and invest in all Port Houston terminals.

The port’s Small Business Development Program is designed to stimulate the growth of certified small businesses by encouraging a competitive and diverse business environment in all phases of its procurement activities and ensuring a full and fair opportunity to compete for all port contracts.

As one of the nation’s busiest ports, the Port of Houston generates nearly $7 billion in business activity annually.
